There’s a few fucking great shows on this week in easy striking distance: Make sure to go to one (or more) of these:
Liverpool experimental collective Ex-Easter Island Head are playing at the Conti: EEIH have been building a heavy rep on the noise circuit lately, providing further explorations of the ground between rock forms and classical forms mapped out by the likes of Rhys Chatham and Glenn Branca. Repetitive and percussive, this promises to be an immersive night of music – support provided by 1st & 2nd year UClan music undergrads. Wednesday night, for less than the price of a pint – it’s pretty much essential we all go. Details here.
Next, this coming weekend sees the return of Other Worlds Festival to Blackpool. Last year we left it too late and it sold out before we got a ticket (although it was a pleasant surprise that an avant-garde music festival in Blackpool could ever sell out…). The line up is amazing again: Richard Dawson, Paddy Steer, Gum Takes Tooth, Laura Cannell and Bongoleros have all blown Concrète minds at various points in the last year or so, and a glance through the rest of the roster reveals a load of names we can’t wait to check out. Preston noise lovers will be pleased to spot our own Robbie Judkins (previously of Earwhacks) in his Left Hand Cuts Off Right guise, playing on Sunday evening.
Stand by for details of our own live outing for the month of April, to be revealed in the next few days…
